Welcome To A New School Year! Alex Mason [2008.09.01][03:50]
Hello everyone and welcome to a new school year! My name is Alex Mason and I'm the Rush Chairman for Delta Kappa Epsilon this year!

I'm sure everyone is well rested from the summer. I trust everyone used their time to recuperate and not gong, right? Regardless, it's September once again and that means that it's time for RUSH again! So I'd like to invite all current members to be on the look out for new potential members and spread the word about the exciting DKE social events that are planned for the semester!

If you're new to the U of A and are currently looking for more information on Delta Kappa Epsilon, check out the links under Fraternity on the right hand side. If you would like information on what rush is and how it works, click here. If you're interested in joining a group that has members from all faculties and is involved in planning and carrying out parties, sports and charity events then check us out. Delta Kappa Epsilon is not all about the social activities though, academics play a huge part of our fraternity and our alumni go on to many professions, from lawyer and judge, to business executives, engineers and private developers, leet hackers, doctors, dentists... the list goes on. For more information on our chapters history, click here. Of course, Delta Kappa Epsilon is an international fraternity and you can view some of our more famous alumni on Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, contact any member or feel free to send me an e-mail - rush@uofadekes.org or give me a call at (780) 237-4461. If you'd prefer for us to get in contact with you then just go and fill out our online contact form and we'll get in touch with you. And remember - I'm DAMN glad to meet you!

I'd like to invite everyone out to the Delta Kappa Epsilon events that we'll be holding over the next few months. They're for everyone, especially potential rushees. If you want to see what Delta Kappa Epsilon is like, come check out one of our events:

Snowflake Gala 2007 – Stollery Children’s Hospital
This year, the Stollery Children’s Hospital Snowflake Gala attracted 1,400 people and raised over $835,000 for the Hospital. The event was held on December 10, 2007, however much of the preparation commenced days earlier to convert the Shaw Conference Center into a winter wonderland. A full fleet of Dekes helped out in the construction of the larger displays, as well as assisted in the detailed decorating that so many of the winter sets required.

"Last night was a magical and inspirational evening," said Dallas Smith, Chair, Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation Board of Trustees. "This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors, guests and volunteers"

Y.E.S.S Christmas Dinner 2007
On December 6, 2007 the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity hosted the annual Y.E.S.S (Youth Emergency Shelter Society) Christmas Dinner. A majority of the youth in the Y.E.S.S program attended the events accompanied by staff members. The purpose of hosting the dinner for the youth of the Y.E.S.S program is to provide a entertaining night of fellowship and a hearty meal to shed some positive light on the Christmas season. We recognize that the Christmas season can be particularity difficult time for some people, so we thank everyone who came out to support this event, to make this Christmas a little brighter for the lives of these youths.

Donation to Garneau School:
When Delta Kappa Epsilon celebrated its 75th anniversary of our Fraternity, the Garneau School accommodated our need for additional parking spaces. As a token of appreciation we donated several soccer balls to the school. They were presented at the schools general assembly by Kyle Brown as seen below.

Engineering Head Shave For Cancer:
Can we can not forget Vedren who shaved it all off for cancer. Apparently, he likes the new doo, especially since it helps cut down wind resistance when completing the infamous quadruple long pump dance move!.

Other Philanthropy Events:

The Delta Kappa Epsilon has held long standing support for philanthropy events. This past Fall semester at University, the Dekes attended various other philanthropy events. In early October we supported the initiative of the Delta Gamma sorority in their event titled “Anchor Splash”. This event is done to raise awareness and to provide funds for CNIB. Similarly, we also attended “Running Scared” which is hosted by the sorority Kappa Alpha Theta in support of ABC head start.
Greek God and Goddess Bosch [2007.12.03][04:20]
The Deke rock band ‘Cracked Foundation’ rocked the set at this year’s Greek God and Goddess competition. Band members include Colin Hulobowich [Singer], Kyle Brown [Drums], Matt Wesfall [Bass], and Steve Kawecki [Guitar]. As usual the song selection was amazing and we most definitely FSU'd!!

And I'm sure there's better pics somewhere out there so if you have some send them to us!
